Dear Wearers of Thread,

We are going to have a guest at the next Capital Quilts Cares: Quilts of Valor Workshop. Eleanor Balaban, winner of two ribbons at the Montgomery County Fair last month, will share some of her quilts with us, then lead the group in making a QOV quilt in a pattern called Diabolical Jane. The workshop is on Friday, September 20, 1-3:30. Even if you can’t or don’t want to sew, come by to meet Eleanor and see her quilts.

Don’t forget to attend Bobbie Korengold’s lecture about her fabulous Baltimore Album style quilts this Saturday at 3! Come a little early and visit her quilts in our Gallery; take note of her tiny, parallel quilting stitches and beautiful fabrics, not to mention the beautiful embroidery.

Our next Night Owl Sewing with Kat Martinez is coming up this Saturday, the 14th, from 6-12. Night Owl Sewing is an in-store mini-retreat, a chance for you to visit and sew without distractions from family, pets, telephones, homework questions, and so forth. You don’t have to stay until midnight if you don’t want to, but Kat will stay with you if you do. Bring your own project and sewing equipment. We provide pizza, beverages, and a $10 Gift Card. The shop stays open just for you!

We are very busy getting ready for Quilters’ Quest shop hop, which is just 4 weeks away. Have you reserved your seat on our motor coach yet? We travel to all 10 shops in 2 days, Monday and Tuesday, October 14 and 15, and we provide lunch, snacks, and a hostess with the mostest to make your trip easy and fun. You will receive a Quilters’ Quest 2019 tote bag with some goodies inside, a chance to win some very nice prizes, and a card for a 15% discount on purchases made at all 10 participating shops during the next year, through September 30, 2020 (some exclusions apply).

We will be vending at a quilt show this month, Saturday and Sunday, September 21 and 22. The show is presented by the Friendship Quilters of Linthicum and Eternal Quilters guilds at the Lindale Middle School, 415 Andover Road, Linthicum Heights, MD, from 10-4 each day. There will be some 200 quilts on display, vendors, boutiques, demonstrations, a silent auction, and raffle quilts. Come see us!

Do you know anyone who would like to learn how to sew? We are offering a beginning sewing class, “Learn to Sew”, on Saturday, September 28, from 1-4. The students will learn how to thread and use their sewing machine, how to sew a straight line and a curved line, and make a pillowcase.

Thank you for shopping at Capital Quilts!

Go ‘n’ piece,
Alison
