What's New at CQ 6/14/18

"You exist only in what you do." Federico Fellini

Dear Sewaholics,

Our thanks to the Annapolis Quilt Guild for inviting us to be a vendor at their show last weekend! It was well attended and full of energy and fun. I heard the demonstrations were fabulous. The ladies of the guild are excellent quilters; the quilts they had on display were beautiful. If you’ve never been to this particular show, I highly recommend you plan to attend next year.

Handi Quilter has announced a new update to the ProStitcher Premium. Look for the email from Handi Quilter. If you have a ProStitcher and don’t get the email, go to www.HQProStitcher.com for more information.

We have new quilts on display in the Gallery! All of the pieces in these quilts were cut using an AccuQuilt GO! machine. Liz Brodsky, Debra Ball, and Nina Graves will all tell you they spend less time cutting and lots more time actually sewing. Get GO!ing to the shop on June 22 and 23 and attend one of three AccuQuilt GO! sessions to find out how this marvelous cutting system can make your sewing life ‘sew’ much easier! There is a morning session each day at 10:30, and Friday afternoon there is a session at 2:30. Each session is $10, but you will get a $10 Capital Quilts Gift Card at the door. (This is different from what I said in last week's newsletter.) There will be giveaways! People who have already bought a GO! machine (and actually use it) are raving about it. Customer George-Anna brought in two quilt tops to show us, both of them made with 8” clamshell pieces. She told us her 5-year-old grandson did a lot of the cutting using her GO! machine; it kept him busy for an entire hour! See the quilt tops on our Facebook page.

Kat is teaching the first Sew Days class tonight, June 14th at 6:30. The project is the Last Minute Table Runner, perfect for beginner sewists and anybody else who wants to make a fun and fast runner. There is still room in the class, and it is only $5! On Thursday, the 21st, join us for the second class, the Stow and Go Tote: same time, same place, new teacher – Betsy Kulamer. The Stow and Go Tote uses the same method of construction that is used for making a pillowcase: you’ll learn how to make two things!

It’s not too late to join the summer sewing challenge, “Do You See What I See?” Come to the shop to get a rules sheet and pick your inspirational picture. We have three categories with prizes in each: All Quilters, Kids Under 18, and CQ Teachers/Staff. Finished quilts are just 20” x 20”, due on July 22nd. You can do this and have a whale of a good time! There is a $5 registration fee. Top prize for All Quilters and Teachers/Staff is a $50 Capital Quilts Gift Card; top prize for Kids Under 18 is a $30 CQ Gift Card.

Go 'n' Piece,
Alison
